On April 3, the Senate confirmed President Trump’s nominee, Harmeet Dhillon, to be the Assistant Attorney General for the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Civil Rights Division (CRD).

Ms. Dhillon will lead what many people consider the federal government’s chief civil rights enforcement agency. The CRD is responsible for enforcing several federal civil rights laws, including those dealing with voting rights, fair housing, education, and public sector employment discrimination.

Ms. Dhillon joins DOJ from the Dhillon Law Group, for which she was a founding partner. She also founded and served as CEO to the nonprofit legal organization Center for American Liberty. Ms. Dhillon began her legal career clerking at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. She has an undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and a law degree from the University of Virginia.

The Center for Workplace Compliance (CWC), our affiliated nonprofit membership association, prepared a chart that provides a snapshot of key appointments and designations made by President Trump.
